Pagination, or laying out newspaper pages, has been my primary focus from my last year of high school going into my college years studying journalism. At first I started as an inside page designer for entertainment. I liked the freedom and creativity that an inside page can allow, especially in a section dedicated to the arts.
Transitioning to working on a college page, I stepped up and took over front page design with confidence. While I pulled back on use of creative photo illustrations in favor of prioritizing relevant story ideas. At this point, I’m typically given many pictures to chose from for my dominant package so I learned various ways to arrange them to tell a visual story.
Overall, I can confidently tell my writers and photographers, “I will make your efforts look good.”
